# EVDIR > EVDIR is a directory of public EV charging stations in Australia: > 1,338 stations with 2,455 charging stalls across 8 states and territories and 888 cities, > run by 32 charging networks. A further 136 site outlets — campground > pedestals, caravan and RV hook-ups and wall sockets — are counted as outlets, not stalls. Each station > lists its connector standards, peak charging power, charging stalls, operator and per-kWh > price. Free to browse, no account required. EVDIR does not sell vehicles or electricity. It indexes public charging stations from Open Charge Map and normalises the connector standards, peak power in kW, number of charging stalls, the price per kWh when the network quotes one, and the address. Live stall availability — whether a charger is free right now — is not tracked, and no page claims it. Data as of October 2026. ## Key facts - Coverage: Australia — 8 states and territories, 888 cities, 1,338 stations, 2,455 charging stalls and 136 site outlets. - Connector standards recorded: Type 2 (838 stations), CCS2 (377 stations), CHAdeMO (149 stations), Household socket (130 stations), Three-phase (64 stations), Caravan socket (61 stations). - Power: 374 stations are AC (under 50 kW), 268 are DC fast (50 kW or more), and 163 reach 150 kW or more. - Price: 828 stations quote a per-kWh tariff; the median is A$0.50 and 487 charge A$0.50 or less. Medians by state or territory and by network are on the cost page. - Hours: 884 stations are open around the clock. - Cost: free to browse, no account. ## Pages - [Home](https://au.evdir.com/): search by city, state or territory or postcode, connector and minimum power; a preview of nearby stations; a connector reference; and the doorway into the full directory. - [Explore EV charging stations](https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations): the whole directory — every station with its connectors, power, price and address, a list of cards beside a map, and filters for connector, minimum power, price per kWh, radius and opening hours. Filtering runs in the browser; the page is static HTML plus one JSON catalog. - Connector guide at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors — one page per connector or outlet type with enough stations to answer the query, with the station count for each: - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors/type-2 (838) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors/ccs2 (377) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors/chademo (149) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors/wall-outlet (130) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors/three-phase (64) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/connectors/caravan-socket (61) Each hub carries its station count, state and city breakdown, top networks, station cards, charging guidance and FAQ, and links to its state pages and into the directory with the connector applied. Plugs quote charging stalls; outlet types quote stations only, because a campground reports its whole electrical field as one number. - Network guide at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks — one page per network with at least 20 stations, with the station count for each. A station can name more than one network, so these counts overlap and do not sum to the directory: - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/exploren (198) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/chargefox (165) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/agl-ev-charging (126) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/ampcharge (99) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/evx (83) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/everty (56) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/jolt (44) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/tesla-destination (42) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/wevolt (31) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/networks/chargepost (25) Each page carries the network's station and stall counts, states, cities, connector mix, power split, median price, station cards and FAQ, plus a section on the company behind the network — its own account of what it runs, its logo, and a link to its site. The operator figures there are the operator's, not counts from this directory. - Place guide at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places — one page per place type with at least 40 stations, with the station count for each: - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places/lodging (172) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places/shopping-center (103) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places/street-parking (96) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places/parking-garage-lot (85) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places/workplace (46) Each page carries the same counts, the connector and power mix, and what the place is good for. - 8 place-by-state pages at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/places// — one per intersection with at least 20 stations. - Speed guide at /explore/ev-charging-stations/speeds — three bands, with the station count for each: - /explore/ev-charging-stations/speeds/level-2 (374) - /explore/ev-charging-stations/speeds/dc-fast (268) - /explore/ev-charging-stations/speeds/150-kw (163) - Attribute pages, each a set of records with its own URL and FAQ: - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/24-hour (884) — 24-hour charging - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/parking (910) — parking information - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/free-parking (776) — free parking - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/rv-parks (0) — RV and campground outlets - Cost guide at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/costs — the median per-kWh price at every station that lists one, grouped by state and by network, with each state's cheapest and dearest tariff, the share of stations at or below {money(SITE.cheapPriceThreshold)} and the number of stations behind each median. It covers per-kWh tariffs only; session, connection, idle and parking fees are not included. - One cost page per state or territory with a priced station, at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/costs/ — 8 pages, each with the median, the range and the network breakdown for that state or territory. - Location index at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/states — every state or territory page and all 34 city guides on one page, most stations first, with station, stall and city counts for each state or territory. It is the shortest path into the location tree. - One page per state or territory, at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/ — the name in lower case, hyphens between words. Each page carries that state or territory's station count, stall count, city list, connector counts, median price and its top stations. A state or territory with no stations has no page. The 8 that have one, with station counts: - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/new-south-wales (636) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/victoria (210) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/queensland (182) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/western-australia (148) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/south-australia (86) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/australian-capital-territory (29) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/tasmania (28) - https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/northern-territory (19) - One page per city with at least 5 stations, nested under its state or territory, at https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations// — for example https://au.evdir.com/explore/ev-charging-stations/new-south-wales/sydney. There are 34 city pages. Each carries the city's station count, stall count, networks, connectors, median price, top stations, nearest cities and FAQ. - One page per open station, at https://au.evdir.com/stations/- — for example https://au.evdir.com/stations/ampol-foodary-eastern-creek-westbound-959684. There are 1,334 open station pages. Each carries the street address, connectors, peak power, stalls, price, access, hours, the network, the nearest alternatives and an FAQ. Closed stations render with a noindex hint and stay out of the sitemap. ## Landmarks - [Landmarks](https://au.evdir.com/landmarks): 75 Australian landmarks in 8 states and territories, each joined to the public charging stations within 60 km of it — the nearest, its power, plugs and listed price. Distances are straight lines from the published landmark coordinate, not driving routes. - One page per landmark at https://au.evdir.com/landmarks//, and one per state at https://au.evdir.com/landmarks/. The landmark pages are reachable from the closest station pages and from their state's charging page. Cars come from the catalogue or from a profile the reader adds — a ChatGPT JSON reply or a typed form, validated in the browser — so a model outside the catalogue can be planned. Range starts from the published test figure, is scaled by the route's average speed and drops 22% in winter mode; charging time uses a taper model; a station with no listed tariff is costed at the national median. - [EV charging cost calculator](https://au.evdir.com/tools/ev-charging-cost-calculator): what a charge costs, for any of the 201 catalogue models or one the reader adds. Joins kWh per 100 kilometres to the median listed public tariff of a state or territory and a home electricity rate the reader sets, and returns the cost of one charge, per 100 km, per km and per year. Charging losses are included — about 10% on AC and 5% on DC — so the bill is calculated on metered energy while range comes from battery energy. - [EV connector checker](https://au.evdir.com/tools/ev-connector-checker): pick a car and a station and it answers twice — AC and fast charging — with fits, needs an adapter, or no. It reads the car's two inlets from the vehicle catalogue and the post's connectors from the station record, and names an adapter only for the pairs that are sold. A CHAdeMO car is bridged by nothing. It also totals how much of the directory a car can use as it is and with an adapter. - [Tools hub](https://au.evdir.com/tools): every interactive tool on the site. ## Electric vehicles - [Electric vehicle guide](https://au.evdir.com/evs): 211 Australian models from 57 makes, with WLTP range, battery, DC charging and AUD prices. - https://au.evdir.com/evs/abarth (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/alfa-romeo (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/audi (4 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/bmw (9 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/byd (8 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/cadillac (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/chery (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/cupra (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/deepal (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/denza (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/farizon (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/fiat (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/ford (4 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/forthing (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/gac (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/geely (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/genesis (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/gwm (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/honda (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/hyundai (8 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/jaecoo (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/jaguar (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/jeep (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/kgm (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/kia (7 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/land-rover (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/ldv (5 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/leapmotor (5 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/lepas (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/lexus (6 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/lotus (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/mahindra (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/maserati (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/mazda (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/mercedes-benz (16 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/mg (8 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/mini (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/mitsubishi (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/nio (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/nissan (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/peugeot (7 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/polestar (4 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/porsche (5 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/range-rover (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/renault (6 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/rolls-royce (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/skoda (5 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/skywell (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/smart (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/subaru (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/suzuki (1 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/tesla (2 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/toyota (3 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/volkswagen (6 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/volvo (9 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/xpeng (5 models) - https://au.evdir.com/evs/zeekr (4 models) - One page per model at https://au.evdir.com/evs//. - Range is the manufacturer's WLTP figure reviewed by a community database, not a test run on this site and not manufacturer-official. ## Guides - [How long does EV charging take?](https://au.evdir.com/guides/how-long-does-ev-charging-take): What sets EV charging time: the car's limit, the station's power and the battery's state of charge — plus what a 10–80% stop really takes. - [Public EV charging price index, Australia (Q4 2026)](https://au.evdir.com/guides/public-charging-price-index-australia): The median public charging tariff in every state and territory, the index behind it, and the cheapest place to charge. Q4 2026: A$0.50. - [Cheapest electric cars in Australia (2026)](https://au.evdir.com/guides/cheapest-electric-cars-australia): Every electric model with an Australian list price, ranked cheapest first: what each starts at, the driveaway price, WLTP range and the cost per 100 km. - [AC vs DC fast charging in Australia](https://au.evdir.com/guides/ac-vs-dc-fast-charging): AC charging adds about 40 km an hour at 7 kW; DC fast adds 200 km in 20 minutes. What each is for here, and what the directory lists. - [Tesla Destination vs Supercharger in Australia](https://au.evdir.com/guides/tesla-destination-vs-supercharger-in-australia): In Australia both Tesla networks use Type 2 and CCS2, not a Tesla plug. What each is for, what the sites here charge, and the gap non-Tesla drivers pay. - [EV home charging cost in Australia](https://au.evdir.com/guides/ev-home-charging-cost): What an EV costs to charge at home in Australia: the two retailer rates we could verify, what 100 km costs at each, and the claims we left out. - [EV charging cost per kilometre](https://au.evdir.com/guides/ev-charging-cost-per-kilometre): What an EV costs to drive in Australia: the directory's Type 2 and CCS2 tariff medians divided by kilometres per kWh, with a lab for your car and your year. - [Which EV connector does my car use?](https://au.evdir.com/guides/which-ev-connector-does-my-car-use): Look up your EV by make and model: its AC and DC inlets, the stations near you that take them, and the adapter the other plugs need. - [EV charging glossary: kW, kWh, taper and the rest](https://au.evdir.com/guides/ev-charging-glossary): The words this site uses in plain English: AC and DC, kW and kWh, taper, idle fee, stall and outlet, each with the figure the directory holds. ## Trust pages - [About](https://au.evdir.com/about): what the directory is and is not. - [Methodology](https://au.evdir.com/methodology): how the records are curated, the normalisation rules, the median thresholds and the known limits. - [Corrections](https://au.evdir.com/corrections): how a station record is corrected. - [Contact](https://au.evdir.com/contact), [privacy](https://au.evdir.com/privacy) and [terms](https://au.evdir.com/terms). ## Data provenance - Every station record is curated by EVDIR from crowdsourced reports and in-house research: the operator's published listing, its tariff page and photographs of the equipment. - There is no third-party directory behind this data, and no per-station record to link to. - Station photographs are published where a crowdsourced report includes one we may display. ## Known gaps - Connector, network, place-type, state, city and cost pages are built. The long tail of networks below 20 stations, place types below 40, and cities below 5 appears only in the directory filter. - Coverage follows our curation: 8 states are present, others are not. - No live availability or reservation endpoints. The trip planner computes entirely in the browser and cannot see whether a planned stall is free.
